Google Maps for iOS updated with flight, hotel or restaurant via Gmail sync

Google has updated its Map services for iOS, bringing new features, including the ability to provide flight information, hotel or restaurant reservation data. In order for these features to work, Google Maps on your iPhone or iPad will allow you to sync your Google account with flight bookings and restaurant reservation confirmation emails direct to your Gmail.

Google is looking to add more features and refining its services with future updates. It seems that the features added with the latest update (v2.5.0) is mostly dependent on your connection (data or Wi-Fi). For now we do not see any chance of an offline version of Google Maps coming but in the world of tech, anything can happen.

It’s also worth noting that Google Maps for the Windows Phone platform allows downloadable country and state maps, specifically on Nokia Lumia smartphones.
