Instagram introduces, Instagram Direct, a feature that is similar to what Twitter launched this week by giving users the ability to privately share photos via direct messages. Instagram Direct is very easy to use. You simply post the picture as you would normally but there are new icons that you can select from, Followers or Direct. Much like other social networks, you can send the picture or video to an individual or a group of people by selecting their names, and then hit send.
Instagram has also taken a cue from BlackBerry’s BBM service, by showing who has seen your photo and who has liked it.
If you have the application on auto-update you may overlook this new feature but it is there for your private sharing needs. Instagram is now providing photo-sharing to over 150 million people around the world. If you don’t already know, the app is available for iPhone, Android and Windows Phone devices.
