Android 2.3 Gingerbread now running on more than half of Android handsets

We have some great news for you folks who are always looking at Android statistics. According to a bi-monthly report, over half of all Android smartphones entering the Android Market are running Gingerbread. The number comes in at 50.1 percent for 2.3.3 to 2.3.7 and a total of 50.6 percent for all Gingerbread. Fragmentation of Android has always been my biggest gripe with the operating system..

Samsung resumes shipments of Galaxy Nexus — reflashed with new version of ICS

Samsung distribution has now resumed shipments to retailers with newly reflashed models ready to hit store shelves. The new units will have the revised software already installed out of the box. An OTA update should be coming soon for those who have the first batch of Galaxy Nexus’s considering the short amount of time it took them to reflash unshipped models with a new version of.

Unofficial Galaxy Nexus volume bug fix now available

We reported last week that Galaxy Nexus owners in the United Kingdom experienced a volume bug with Google coming forward with a statement “We are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix. We will update devices as soon as possible”. There is a fix for this volume bug and it’s ready to be downloaded. However, the only thing is that the bug fix is not coming from Google.

Nokia Lumia 800 software updates will improve battery efficiency and more

The Nokia Lumia 800 is set to receive two firmware updates in coming months that will improve its battery life following complaints from a group of Lumia users. The company’s support staff claimed that the problems are not widespread and that the updates will improve its charging and battery efficiency. “Early investigations show that most people are enjoying the full Nokia Lumia.

Galaxy Nexus owners experiencing volume rocker issue

British retailer Handtec has put a hold on Galaxy Nexus shipments after customers have reported that some handsets have a volume rocker issue. Handtec confirms that the problem stems from its 2G reception, saying that “the tests are showing when in 2G mode the volume is acting erratically”. In theory, if you are always in a strong 3G coverage area you probably won’t experience.

Adobe’s last update will be for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Adobe will send its last update of its Flash Player mobile for Android 4.0 by the end of 2011. The company has confirmed that the Galaxy Nexus will be ale to play Flash games and animations in the browser which will likely fix the issue that many Galaxy Nexus users are complaining about. In a report earlier this month, Adobe announced that the mobile Flash will discontinue and have plans.

Galaxy Nexus users experience issues with Ice Cream Sandwich

Early adopters of the Galaxy Nexus are confirming that the Android 4.0 device is currently incompatible with Adobe’s Flash Player. In addition, a volume-muting software bug is also present. Google did mention Flash has not been released for Ice Cream Sandwich yet but Adobe will support Flash for the new operating system. It’s also quite interesting that it lacks Flash support.
