LG confirms Nexus device will be announced at next week’s Google event

LG has confirmed that its Nexus device would be announced at a Google-hosted event on October 29th in New York City. Google’s $.25cent apps include Angry Birds Space Premium, Asphalt 7 Heat and more

Google announced today that they will be offering selected apps on Google Play for $.25 (CDN). This was in celebration of reaching the 25 billion app download milestone that the Android platform has surpassed. Google should be populating Google Play with mor apps on a daily basis. Google updates Maps, Chrome Beta and Shopper

IDC projects Windows Phone’s market share will surpass iOS by 2016

The IDC (International Data Corporation) released its Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker report on today in which it provided data on the current market share figures for iOS, Android and other smartphone operating systems. The firm projects that both iOS and Android will peak in popularity before 2016 and that Windows Phone will be able to pick up enough steam to surpass iOS by 2016. IDC.

Google acquires mobile office app maker QuickOffice

Google has announced today that it has acquired mobile document editing company QuickOffice, which is famous for productivity applications for iOS, Android and Symbian devices. The application comes with two versions, Quickoffice Pro and Quickoffice Pro HD, which sells for $15 and $21 on Google Play. On Apple’s App Store the application only comes as Quickoffice Pro universal version.

IKEA launches Android and iOS application

Ikea has launched its On The Go application in Canada, one of three nations the company has decided to support, because it has found that almost 10% of its web traffic was coming from mobile devices via tablets and smartphones. The Ikea application is only in three locations as a trial run as mobile traffic leap-frogged 250% in March 2012 from the year before. It is available for Android.
